Since 2012, the Silsden Local History Group has been holding regular meetings on the fourth Monday of each month, excepting May and August, at the Methodist Church. Doors open at 7.00pm when hot drinks and biscuits are provided. The meetings start at 7.20pm. Currently, there is an entrance charge of £2. Silsden has a rich and colourful history, full of fascinating characters and entertaining stories. As well as talks, some meetings are informal when people are invited to bring along photographs and objects of interest to share with others.
The Group is actively building up a Town Archive. Items can be deposited in the archive for the benefit of all as a research and museum facility. If you are clearing out, check if there is anything worth preserving. Old artefacts and also documents such as bills, letters, programmes, photographs etc, give us fascinating details into Silsden’s past. The Group hold a research session in the Town Hall on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.
Information about our meetings can be found on the notice board outside the Town Hall and on the Methodist notice board inside the church cafe area.
